Who or what is WoordenWechsel?

For me, Lisa Wegmann, WoordenWechsel is a dream come true and a kind of summary of my life. In the 1990s I was born in Münster, Germany and also went to school here. Long before that, my grandparents had bought a chalet in North Holland and went there every summer. The Netherlands were part of my life ever since I was born. I soon learned crucial phrases like "Don't throw sand!" and "Two chips with mayo and a special frikandel without onions, please."

And when it became time to choose a university at the age of 18, I decided to go to one in the Netherlands. Within 3 weeks I learned the basics of the language and within 1 year I obtained a Dutch NT2 diploma. In 2017 I graduated in the field of Integrated Safety and Security Management. I was holding my first Bachelor Diploma.

In the years that followed, I used the knowledge I acquired in school as a member of the quality department of an international non-food distributor. Meetings were often held in English or letters for German colleagues had to be translated. These occasional moments and tasks reawakened my passion for language and that is why I decided to register at ITV University of Applied Sciences - the institute for interpreters and translators - in 2022. Within 1 year I was able to graduate as an interpreter and obtained my second Bachelor's degree.

Although a quick study in addition to a full-time job asked a lot of me, one thing quickly became clear to me: This is what I want to do!

I especially did and still do love simultaneous interpreting. Barely time to think, switch quickly and be alert. Wonderful!

After I received my interpreting diploma in September of 2023, I delved further into the interpreter profession. How do you actually do this successfully? What does it take? It quickly became clear that I had to embark on the adventure of self-employment. So, I did my homework. After all, I am German and  German Precision (Deutsche Gründlichkeit) is in my blood. Whether I'm finding out how a set up your own interpretation service business or preparing for an assignment, careful research will be done. I'd rather know too much than too little.

And now the time has come: WoordenWechsel is reality, my dream is coming true. As an interpreter (and translator), I can help you communicate effectively and accurately with any Dutch, German of Englisch speaking party. Communication is the heart of every relationship - private or business.

In July 2024 I was also sworn-in  in the Netherlands for the language combination Dutch<>German. This allows me to interpret for courts, solicitors and police amongst other organisations and institutions. Of course, the adventure is only beginning now. The next steps are more courses and seminars to be an ever-evolving and -improving interpreter, and a translator training course to further expand my existing translation skills.

So great that you've found me! Hopefully, I can be of help in any and all of your linguistic inquiries.
